The traditional seaside resort of Bridlington is the heart of the East Yorkshire coast, attracting thousands of visitors every year.

The town, at the centre of England’s shellfish industry, is known as the lobster capital of Europe and boasts glorious miles of beaches.

Bridlington holds markets in King Street twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays (also Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays during summer).

Having been granted a royal charter by King John in 1200, the market has a variety of traditional and modern stalls. Some more traditional traders have been coming to the market for decades, while other newcomers cater for the latest trends in food and gifts.

Stalls include fruit and vegetable, fresh flowers and plants, coffee and cakes, and non-food items such as t-shirts and household goods.

Elsewhere in the town is the spectacular venue Bridlington Spa, a seaside landmark which hosts a variety of popular shows and concerts, while the recently-built East Riding Leisure Bridlington brings together a swimming pool, gym, leisure centre and café on the seafront.

In addition to the market, the town also boasts an interesting Old Town, which, due to its 1930s feel, has found itself one of the main filming locations for a number of film and television productions, including the Dad’s Army film of 2016.

Step back in time at the nearby Sewerby Hall and Gardens. This Edwardian house sits in beautiful grounds and boasts its own zoo. It hosts a variety of events, exhibitions and guided tours .

The natural attractions of Flamborough Head and the Bempton RSPB reserve are also close by.
