Walking is a great way to get fitter by adding physical activity into everyday life. Explore East Riding's natural surroundings with over 350 interesting routes passing through the towns, nature reserves, coastal villages and rolling hills of East Yorkshire.

There are also events and activities taking place across the county throughout the year for you to enjoy.

Healthy Living

Being outdoors can have benefits to both your mental and physical health. The East Riding is home to many walking clubs, sports clubs and other outdoor events held across the county. To see what is happening near you, visit the health and wellbeing website.

Health and Wellbeing

Beach Wheelchairs

The large rubber wheels are designed especially for outdoor use, making the beach easily accessible. The wheelchair can be hired on a half-day basis and is located at the Foreshores Office on Princess Mary Promenade. A deposit of £10 is required but there is no charge for the hire of the wheelchair.

To hire the wheelchair you can go to the Foreshore Office on Bridlington's South Promenade.

All Ride adapted bikes

All ride adapted bikes offer people with additional needs and mobility issues the opportunity to take part in cycling. All abilities are welcome onto the scheme as there are a wide range of adapted bikes that cater for various disabilities.

We also have standard bikes so family members/carers can access the scheme.

Boats, Vehicles and Power Kites

Using powered vehicles on land and sea can be great fun, but you must be respectful of other people in the area. There are certain places you can and can't launch boats, drive all terrain vehicles (including dirt bikes) or use power kites. The East Riding coast is full of beautiful scenery that can be explored through hugely popular walks on our beaches and through our countryside. This beauty is not without risk however.
