Walk the East Yorkshire Geopark at Thixendale


Not heard of the Geopark for East Yorkshire? Then come along on this circular walk to learn about the landscape of the Yorkshire Wolds with its rolling hills and dry valleys.

Starting in the pretty village of Thixendale, with a long history stretching back into pre-history, the walk takes in the Centenary Way and Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail.

Along the route you will see and learn about the origins of the Wolds landscape, Chalk, dry valleys, deserted medieval villages and the mysterious Dolines.

The walk will be 6km or 4miles. We will return to Thixendale for a welcoming cup of tea or coffee at the Village Hall.

What to bring: Please bring walking boots, waterproofs, packed lunch and plenty of water.
